Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner on MSNBC

August 24th, 2009

A guest on MSNBC talks about the Rainbow Vacuum and its cleaning power. She seems pretty impressed and even said she tried it out on her dogs. Given the suction on a Rainbow, I wouldn’t recommend using it on your dogs…

Where have I been

August 21st, 2009

It’s been a long time since I lasted posted. Too long in fact. Where have I been? Cleaning with my rainbow vacuum! Of course I am just kidding, but cleaning would have been better than the ordeal I have been through lately. I won’t bore you with the details. Suffice to say, my problems are over and I expect to be posting a lot more. I am hoping to get some more interesting material on the site. Maybe videos, or at least some pictures. Until next post….

Rainbow Vacuum Cleaners Sold Online

May 5th, 2008

I saw a commercial for a new Dyson vacuum cleaner. I don’t recall what model it was for, but it made me wonder why Rainbow Vacuum Cleaners are only sold through a network, and not in stores and at least online? Any know the answer to that one? You can buy used rainbow vacuum cleaners on Ebay:

Spring is in the air!

April 22nd, 2008

Spring cleaning is in the air. It hasn’t felt like spring here in Seattle, with snow falling and sticking to the ground this past weekend. But make no doubt about it, we are half way through Spring, and that means a thorough clean of the house is needed. I need to break out the Rainbow Vacuum and start the process. One thing I have been grappling with is cleaning out the air ducts. I was able to get some of the dust out of there, but my guess is that a lot is still deep down inside. Our gas furnace is 50 years old, so I am guessing the duct work is that old and over the years has accumulated a lot of dust and pollen. Any suggestions on how best to clean your ducts – short of taking them apart to clean?

Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner Accessories

April 10th, 2008

Vacuums generally come with different accessories to make cleaning easier and this is especially true for rainbow vacuum cleaners. Accessories include the Squeegee, which polishes hard wood and tile floors, and the AquaMate, which attaches to the vacuum and thoroughly cleans your carpet.

Did you know you can even use your rainbow vacuum cleaner to mist your plants or increase the humidity in your house? The Rainbow Sprayer attaches to your vacuum and delivers a fine mist, perfect for keeping your indoor and outdoor plants in top health.

High Pollen Count

April 8th, 2008

Pollen is in the air here in the Northwest, and my allergies are acting up again. It’s not too bad in the house, where our air filter and rainbow vacuum tend to keep the air relatively clean. However, once I venture outside, my allergies quickly act up. The rainy weather has helped mitigate the high pollen count, but when the sun comes out, the pollen count goes back up. Can’t wait for summer – more sun and less pollen!!

Robot Vacuums

April 1st, 2008

Making the time to clean your home can be very difficult, so I am always on the lookout for products that save me time. Robot vacuums are interesting, as free up time that was once spent vacuuming your home. The big question is, do they effectively clean your house and the jury is still out on that. I have talked to a number of people who feel that they do a good job, while some question the thoroughness of cleaning, and make note of the fact that robot vacuums don’t have high quality air filters and often times can’t get to certain areas of their house.

What say you? Do you have experience with a robot vacuum, good or bad? Leave a comment and let us know.

Air Purification - On a Vacuum or a Unit

March 24th, 2008

Cleaning doesn’t just happen on the ground – a clean house also needs air purification. There are a number of ways to purify your air, including buying a small air purification unit, installed a centralized unit that cleanses the air throughout your house, and of course, purchasing a vacuum that has an air filter built in.

There are a number of benefits and drawbacks to each solution, but a stand alone air purification unit and a unit built into a vacuum are two of the more popular choices, owing to that fact that a central unit can be prohibitively expensive. The rainbow vacuum cleaner has an air filtration unit built in, and the once advantage it has over other solutions is that pet dander, mites and other nastiness that live in your carpet and not in your air are filtered out.

Hotel Cleaning

December 28th, 2006

I was traveling for the holidays, and noticed that many hotels now allow you to hang your towels in order to not have them washed. This saves the hotel money, and helps keep down the ecological footprint of the hotel (i.e. how much resources the hotel uses). I suspect the main motivation is cost, but they also get the side benefit of being an eco-conscious company.

Other Ways to Clean

November 17th, 2006

When I was traveling in India, I noticed people used these very small brooms to clean their abodes. It was peculiar, because the people had to bend down to sweep the broom across the floor. It looked very uncomfortable, and we couldn’t figure out why they didn’t use a bigger broom. Was it cost, or tradition? I don’t really know. Thankfully, I don’t have to rely on a small broom to clean my house. A vacuum does the job, thank you very much.
